Movie Review: Black Adam

So Black Adam was released to let’s say mixed reviews from the critics but to mostly positive reviews by the audience and I would have to side with the audience on this one cause I do genuinely believe that this was a good movie and you’d have to convince me otherwise.

First of all if you look at overall plot, this might be we the movie falls a little lower than it could, the plot was not an incoherent mess which just slowly muddled over and limped to the finish line, it was rather a solid piece of storytelling which did its utmost best to stay true to the source material but at this point I have all but given up on comic book movies even remotely resembling what the actual comic said as with the the entire origin story being rewritten, actual scratch the whole nonsense of not straying to far from the source material, it just wasn’t there at times but things did make sense.

One of the things that made sense was why BA didn’t have an accent or speak his native language and completely understood English until he was back in his mortal human form, he had the wisdom of Zehuti that helped with all that, which I assume is comparable to SHAZAM is wisdom of Solomon, now when you see what that does to Teth you could say Dwayne has the emotional acting range of a depressed kangaroo but even though there was enough action to subside that deficiency.

The biggest criticism I had was that of the Justice Society, I was not a fan of Dr Fate at all and that really hurt me cause he is one of my favourite DC heroes and he’s also one of the far most powerful he gets his power from Nabu a literal Lord of Order he could have probably Soloed both BA and SABBAC, which is no mark of disrespect to either of these characters, that’s just how insanely powerful Fate is but he wasn’t shown in that light, he was a with side characters who wouldn’t be able to hold a candle to him doing his best impression of Dr Strange and trying to predict the future in an uninspired lame way but I let it go because of the speech he gave Adam, that I enjoyed.

Ultimately the movie I thought lived up to a lot of expectations I had the same way the first venom movie did, good stuff all around.

Movie rating 8.4/10
